Scholarship Awards

Scholarship Awards

The IAMBHS also continued its annual scholarship program for Montego Bay High School’s new and returning students as a way of supporting their return to school for the 20/21 academic year.

Annual awards include two corporate scholarships and four memorial scholarships:

Corporate Scholarships

Longshaw Financial Group

Heather Jennings Corporate Scholarship

Memorial Scholarships

Dothlin Harvey-Campbell Annual Memorial Scholarships

Chris Morris Memorial Scholarship

Fred Wallace Memorial Scholarship

Wilbert Chang Memorial Scholarship

Each scholarship offers a minimum of $250 and provides each recipient with enough financing to cover the school’s fees for the academic year. The remainder of the funds may be used for any other expenses at each recipient’s discretion. To qualify for the scholarship, students were asked to write an essay explaining their intellectual journey toward success in PEP, their special talents and capabilities, and their financial needs. They were also required to submit videos that showcased their talent. We received some exceptional entries that demonstrated how talented—both intellectually and creatively—these students are. They show great potential to carry on the tradition for the next generation.

The following are the most recent scholarship awardees. These eight (8) students are entering their first year at Montego Bay High School.

Further details about the memorial scholarships:

Dothlin Harvey-Campbell Annual Memorial Scholarships

These scholarships have been offered since the inception of the IAMBHS scholarship program and are valued at $250 each. Given in memory of Dothlin Harvey-Campbell, these scholarships are awarded by her daughter June Chin and with the support of June’s husband Kenny Chin.

Chris Morris Memorial Scholarship

The Chris Morris scholarship is offered by IAMBHS founder Karen Morris-Clarke in memory of her son whose musical talent is always fondly remembered. His love for and excellence in music is memorialized by this award given to MBHS students who likewise show a tendency toward excellence in music—whether melodic or lyrical composition or performance, including singing.

Fred Wallace Memorial Scholarship

Another musically oriented scholarship is awarded by Mrs. Cynthia Wallace, whose late son Fred Wallace demonstrated excellence in the areas of musical composition and musical performance. The award, valued at $250, is given annually to a student who shows academic and/or musical excellence.

Wilbert Chang Memorial Scholarship

Mrs. Sharon Chang-Thomas donates this annual scholarship worth $250 to a student who demonstrates leadership and academic excellence despite experiencing financial hardship. The award memorializes Mrs. Chang-Thomas’ father Wilbert Chang, whose life was dedicated to his daughter, whom he sent to MBHS—formerly The Beaconsfield School.
